This guy should not have to wait 8 weeks to be sentenced. Take one look at the guy from a 1986 picture....you can't tell that he's not on the level??

From TodaysTHV.com

Jurors have found Tony Alamo guilty on all 10 counts of child-sex charges. Each count carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing will take place in six to eight weeks. Former church members are overjoyed. No current church members or anyone who testified on his behalf, including Sharon Alamo, have commented.

Jurors arrived at the Texarkana federal courthouse at 8:30 a.m. Friday and reached their verdict at about 10:45 a.m. They spent 8 1/2 hours discussing the 10-count federal indictment against the 74-year-old Alamo on Thursday.

Jurors paused twice to ask questions of the judge. The court won't say what they were about. Alamo's attorneys said it was about clarification of the Mann Act.

Prosecutors said Alamo took five underage girls across state lines for sex as far back as 1994. They said one was as young as 9 and was "married" to the evangelist. (See related link for release from Justice Department)

Defense attorneys say the girls traveled on legitimate business for Alamo's ministry, which espouses an apocalyptic form of Christianity.

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”

The King Is Dead, Long Live The Music.

It took his sudden and untimely death, but Michael Jackson is once again The King Of Pop. His recordings currently sit on the top of the charts. His music is being discovered by a new generation. Thriller is currently blaring from my 11 year old Granddaughter's room. Good music stands the test of time. The early Jackson Five records still get people moving and grooving 40 years on.

Michael had a boatload of talent that was fully on display even prior to his 10th birthday. He was 2 years younger than I am. I heard “I Want You Back” in early 1970 which was followed by "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There". I wondered why he could do the things that he did at a younger age than I. If he could do it, why can't I? The answer to that can be summed up with one word...talent...he had it, I didn't.

He sold 750 million records. He was reportedly $400 million in debt. Hard to wrap my brain around that. He was elected into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001. He defined the music video. Where would MTV and VH1 be without him? Would they even still exist?

Michael Jackson carried the Jackson family on his narrow shoulders. The group could have been called The Jackson. Was anyone showing up to listen to Tito, Jackie, Jermaine or Marlon? Be serious, it was ALL Michael. Surely Janet has talent, but without the Jackson name and Michael to blaze the way, would she have emerged?

Is Joe Jackson a villain or a genius? Did he push his kids too hard? Is he responsible for Michael's uneven behavior in his later years? The fact that Joe was on the red carpet hawking a new record label the day after his Son passed away, makes me lean towards Villain.

The memorial service will quite possibly be unrivaled in the history of the country. Media coverage is complete. CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, VH1, MTV, I'm sure I missed a bunch, but you get the point. It's as if a head of state has passed. It's a massive celebration of the man and his music. The A list of performers will participate in the celebration of his life and music. Maria Carey, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and older brother Jermaine will all perform. Someone HAS to sing “Gone Too Soon”. How incredibly difficult it will be to sing that song on this day. edit 3:10pm edt. Usher is singing Gone Too Soon, and crying.

Michael's dark side is being almost completely ignored. Multiple accusations of child molestation, one of which could not be bought off, resulting in a trial 4 years ago. Gavin Arvizo was the accuser. Seventeen years old now, I'd love to hear the absolute truth from him. Drugged, touched, and held prisoner at Neverland.....I'm not buying it. I'd like to think that Michael was a childlike person who found joy in the laughter of children. I don't believe he could harm a child. I do believe that he put himself into inappropriate situations, which opened him up a slew of legal problems. The fact that he was thought of, by some as a child molester, must have killed part of him. If I'm wrong and he was the monster that some claim or believe, then he is getting his due at this point. Life is tough for child molesters in prison, can it be any less so in rock-n-roll heaven?

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown” even if it is self appointed.

Rest In Peace, MJ.

Why Can't Johnny Throw?

Why Can't Johnny throw?

I've heard a rumor that all Major League Baseball teams are considering replacing their third base coaches with a traffic light. That traffic light would display only one color, green. This move was made necessary because too many third base coaches were injuring their shoulders “windmilling” runners around to score. Send them every time, because Johnny can’t throw.

We’ve all seen video of Roberto Clemente gunning down runners foolish enough to try to go from first to third on a single to right. 1979 All Star game, Dave Parker throws out Jim Rice trying to stretch a double into a triple, then he guns down Brian Downing at the plate as he tries to score on a Graig Nettles single. Bo Jackson (missing the cut-off man) throws Harold Reynolds out at the plate on the fly from the left field warning track, remarkable.

As Yankee fans, we’ve suffered for years with Bernie Williams sub average arm, replaced with Johnny Damon’s sub Bernie arm, replaced with Brett Gardner’s “I’ll throw the ball 100 miles an hour into the turf two feet in front of me” arm. Don’t even get me started on Nick Swisher, who has no clue on where the ball is going after it leaves his hand….send them every time.

Andrew McCutchen the Pirates rookie center fielder air mails a throw into the backstop, 10 feet over the catchers head on a potential play at the plate….send them every time.

Outfielders who can’t throw, throwing to the wrong base allowing runners to move into scoring position, a lesson that should have been learned while playing Little League.

Of course there are Major League outfielders who CAN throw, but they are the exception. Bobby Abreu still has a respected arm, going from first to third on him is something you’d want to reconsider, and yet, I've seen his throws meander ten feet up the line. Rick Ankiel a former Pitcher still has a cannon for an arm, it’s accurate too, as long as he’s not throwing the ball to the catcher from 60 feet 6 inches away.

I welcome the discussion. Can the outfielders on your favorite MLB team throw?
