error 2738 could not access VBscript run time for custom action

I got this error while trying to install a Verizon Wireless mobile hotspot.

Running Windows 7 64bit

I tried the suggested solutions:

1. Run Command Prompt as administrator.

Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories, Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator

2. Run the following command:

If you are using 32-bit version of Windows, type cd %windir%\system32 into the Command Prompt and hit Enter

If you are using 64-bit version of Windows, type cd %windir%\syswow64 into the Command Prompt and hit Enter

Then Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll into the Command Prompt and hit Enter.

This DID NOT solve the problem

I came across this posting:

http://gainesvillecsi.blogspot.com/2010/08/error-2738-could-not-access-vbscript.html

He suggested that I run a McAfee cleanup tool:

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Which DID THE TRICK

Thank You Jonathon.

IHOp The Hopping only starts when you want to complain

Centennial IHOP 1340 Centennial Ave. Piscataway, NJ 08854

3 of us went to IHOP for a quick dinner tonight (Saturday, January 23, 2010).

We were seated immediately as only 10 tables were occupied. We were given menus. They must have thought that we were having a hard time deciding what to order as it took our waiter 20 minutes to come over and ask for our drink order. I know what you're saying, why sit there like a boob for 20 minutes?? Just because I wanted to see how far this would go.

A few minutes later our waiter reappeared to ask us for our order again, as he had forgotten it. 5 more minutes passed and our drinks finally arrived. He took our food order and left....he left my wife to stir her hot tea with the arm from her glasses as we were given no utensils. She finally had to wave someone down to get us all silverware.

As everyone around us was getting their food, I continued to look for the hidden sign that read "being punked"...what other explanation could there be??

After another 15 minute wait, our food came out...well most of it. Our Smiley Face pancake arrived with a yogurt stick that was warm and runny, which my Granddaughter refused to eat. My Wife's crepes arrived sans the Hollandaise sauce. My Nut-n-Grain pancakes arrived without my eggs, sausage and home fries. By the time my eggs, sausage and home fries got to me, my pancakes were begging for some heat to melt the butter.

The first two words out of our servers mouth were a continual "I'm sorry". At some point, I'm sorry just does not get the job done. He should have brought over his manager, Jody. Trouble is, she was missing in action, attending to some special guests in the back of the restaurant. Looked to us like she was feeding her family.

We asked for the check and headed to the register to pay...guess what?? No one was there to take our money. After waiting again, one of the waiters came over to take our money. Upon hearing us complain, he too apologized. Not his fault, nothing he could do. Good thing for us there was a big 8.5"x11" sign with an 800 number asking "How did we do??". 24/7-365 give us a call to let us know.

I called the number listed 1-800-775-8434. A sweet sounding woman answered and asked me to tell her the state and city in which the restaurant was located. I told her Piscataway, NJ. She replied that she could not help me, that I would have to call the Corporate Office. I'm sorry, what did I just call, the children's table on Thanksgiving?? She gave me an additional number to call 1-800-241-4467. I called this number and got a recording saying that they were only open M-F 8-5 PST.

You can bet, I'll be on that phone at 11am EST....or maybe I'll play right into their hands and forget:-)

UPDATE!!!

At 11am EST 1-25-2010 I called the second 800 number. After hitting prompt #1 I heard the announcement that the call might be recorded for "quality and training purposes". Then SILENCE followed by a screechingly loud fast busy signal. Call was dropped:-(

I immediately called back and this time a young lady answered the phone. After hearing my tale of woe, she gave me a incident number and promised that I would be hearing from someone up the line. Incident # 322480. The wait begins....

The 27th Championship

Before I left the house to watch the game game, I set my VCR to record the post game celebration. I figured if we got to a point in the game with Mariano Rivera on the mound we were good to go. So there we are with a lead in the ninth….Mo on the mound and all of a sudden….a stolen base…a bad throw….a jam shot…broken bat…humped backed line drive falling out of Jeter’s reach and the dream series was over…..

Of course I’m referring to the ending of the 2001 World Series, which, had the Yankees held on to win, would have been the series to end all series from a Yankee perspective. In the shadow of the 911 attacks, the healing had begun and what better way to speed up that process than with a World Championship?? Of course, The Yankees had no business playing in a game 7 that year. They had been out matched by the Diamondbacks and their double headed snake named Shilling and Johnson. Yet they somehow managed to win a couple of games that they had no business winning and there they were on the edge of immortality with an immortal on the mound. Needless to say, I never watched one second of that post game celebration.

So last night, I tempted fate once again. Prior to leaving the house, I set my DVR to record the Yankee post game. We got the lead and we had Mariano on the hill and this time the outcome was as scripted. Mariano for the last 5 outs. The final out was a weak ground ball to second baseman Robinson Cano by Shane Victorino. Felt sorry for Shane as he had a badly bruised index finger and Mariano pounded him inside…again and again, pitch after pitch, pin point control drilling deep into his weakness. I’m certain he can still feel the “bees” in that hand today.

So, all is well in Yankeeville today, as the long wait is over. I know that “long wait” comment will draw scorn from fans of other franchises (Cubbies), as every other team in MLB would gladly take a World Title every eight years. Truth is, Yankee fans have been spoiled over the last 15 years.

What was once expected had eluded their grasp for 8 seasons. A couple of failed trips to the World Series and a slew of early playoff exits, one year of no post season play at all. Goliath was being slain by David on a regular basis.

I received one message offering up congratulations for last nights Yankee win…ONE!! I also got a few that screamed, “Championships should be won, not bought!!” Ah, come on, I really resent that. I’m no Johnny come lately Yankee fan.

My first real World Series memory was The Yankees losing game 7 in 1964 to the Cardinals and Bob Gibson (pitching on 2 days rest). Not to worry, next year we’ll get them. Turn the clock forward 12 years….longest drought for the Yankees since the modern World Series began, it took them 18 years to get to their first World Series in 1921. From 1965 to 1974 not a single Yankee batter drove in 100 runs, that dubious streak ended in 1975 when Thurman Munson managed 102 RBI’s. I had to endure the talents of Horace Clark, Jerry Kenny, Jim Mason and Celerino Sanchez, may he rest in peaceL Bobby Murcer and Roy White did all they could to keep things interesting. The pitching was not much better. Take away Mel Stottlemyre’s three 20 game seasons and you have to look to Fritz Peterson for the other single 20 win season before Catfish showed up in 1975. So let’s face facts, The Yankees had lost their finesse. They spent a decade as a second division team. They sunk so low that George Steinbrenner put together an ownership group that paid CBS 10 Million for the franchise.

In 1990 the Royals out spent the Yankees by 3 million. By 2002 you really start to see the difference between the Yankees payroll and the rest of Baseball. This just so happens to correspond with the creation of the YES network. Whoever figured out that this was the way to go should be given the keys to the Yankee vault. YES is printing cash and to the Yankees credit, they are reinvesting that cash in their product. Hate the game, don’t hate the player.

In 1996 the Yankees out spent the Orioles by 4 million (52-48m)

In 1998 the Orioles out spent the Yanks by 7 million (70-63m)

In 1999 the Yankees out spent the Texas Rangers by 7 million (88-81m)

In 2000 the Yankees out spent the Dodgers by 2 million (92-90m)

In 2001 the Yankees out spent the Redsox & the Dodgers by 3 million (112-109M)

In 2002 the Yankees out spent the Redsox by 17 million (125-108)

For all of the people who say that the Yankees buy their championships, I say phooey. They spent more than everyone by a wide margin from 2002 to 2008 and did not win a thing. .In 2009 the Yankees spent 88m more that the Phillies, but this fact alone does not guarantee them a world championship. Players get paid more to play for the Yankees. The pressure that they are under to win it all is immense.

I agree that MLB must do something to even out the playing field. The luxury tax is a joke, as there are no provisions documented that stipulate how the money is to be spent. That money should be put back into the team, not used to line the owners’ pocket. That being said, putting in a salary cap might limit the Yankees from signing most of the good players and that fact alone would help…but, with the Yankees revenue stream, they could commit 100m for scouting and player development, which would still give them an advantage. The only way to make things right is to put a cap on team expenditures over all. And THAT will never happen.

I also hate the DH. I think using a DH takes away most of the strategy involved in a baseball game. That being said, eliminating the DH would have deprived us of Matsusi’s performance in game six of the World Series.

Talk in Yankeeland is that both Damon and Matsui may not be back. The Yankees want to get younger and more athletic. Jeter is clutch, Damon and Matsui are right there with him. I’m sure that they need not be reminded that without both of those players, they might not be lifting that 27th trophy over their heads.

LaRouche PAC

I'll bet Lyndon LaRouche is glad that he lives in the USA. His actions would draw him an execution in other lands. It's one thing to disagree with your President, healthy, even. Painting a Hitler mustache on a picture of Barack and calling him a NAZI is just going too far. LaRouche's supporters set up shop outside my local Post Office. I was furious when I drove past and saw the name Hitler associated with My President. I stopped and spoke to the woman who was standing around, as she was hoping to pass out pamphlets to passersby. I told her that she should be ashamed of herself for being associated with an organization that would paint a Hitler mustache on the President of the United States. She replied that it was a "Chaplin" mustache. She had no witty comeback when I reminded her that the sign read Hitler, not Chaplin.

Land of the free, home of the brave, LaRouche certainly has the right to voice his opinion that our President is a NAZI, while comparing him to one of the most vile figures in recorded history.

That being said, I also have the right to voice my opinion that LaRouche is a contemptible idiot and his followers are fools running a fools errands.

Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi being released!!

Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi the sole person convicted in connection with the 1988 bombing of PamAm flight 103 is being released from prison. He is being released so that he can go home to die from terminal cancer. What is wrong with this picture? He should die in prison!! The 270 lives he took on that fateful day were shown no such compassion.

The Scottish authorities should hang their heads in shame for this decision. The Scottish authorities should also be glad that Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi will die well short of his 76th birthday (2028) so that they will not have to deal with his parole hearing. Can you imagine, someone who is responsible for the taking of 270 lives getting out of prison on parole!!!

This guy should not have to wait 8 weeks to be sentenced. Take one look at the guy from a 1986 picture....you can't tell that he's not on the level??

From TodaysTHV.com

Jurors have found Tony Alamo guilty on all 10 counts of child-sex charges. Each count carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing will take place in six to eight weeks. Former church members are overjoyed. No current church members or anyone who testified on his behalf, including Sharon Alamo, have commented.

Jurors arrived at the Texarkana federal courthouse at 8:30 a.m. Friday and reached their verdict at about 10:45 a.m. They spent 8 1/2 hours discussing the 10-count federal indictment against the 74-year-old Alamo on Thursday.

Jurors paused twice to ask questions of the judge. The court won't say what they were about. Alamo's attorneys said it was about clarification of the Mann Act.

Prosecutors said Alamo took five underage girls across state lines for sex as far back as 1994. They said one was as young as 9 and was "married" to the evangelist. (See related link for release from Justice Department)

Defense attorneys say the girls traveled on legitimate business for Alamo's ministry, which espouses an apocalyptic form of Christianity.

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”

The King Is Dead, Long Live The Music.

It took his sudden and untimely death, but Michael Jackson is once again The King Of Pop. His recordings currently sit on the top of the charts. His music is being discovered by a new generation. Thriller is currently blaring from my 11 year old Granddaughter's room. Good music stands the test of time. The early Jackson Five records still get people moving and grooving 40 years on.

Michael had a boatload of talent that was fully on display even prior to his 10th birthday. He was 2 years younger than I am. I heard “I Want You Back” in early 1970 which was followed by "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There". I wondered why he could do the things that he did at a younger age than I. If he could do it, why can't I? The answer to that can be summed up with one word...talent...he had it, I didn't.

He sold 750 million records. He was reportedly $400 million in debt. Hard to wrap my brain around that. He was elected into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001. He defined the music video. Where would MTV and VH1 be without him? Would they even still exist?

Michael Jackson carried the Jackson family on his narrow shoulders. The group could have been called The Jackson. Was anyone showing up to listen to Tito, Jackie, Jermaine or Marlon? Be serious, it was ALL Michael. Surely Janet has talent, but without the Jackson name and Michael to blaze the way, would she have emerged?

Is Joe Jackson a villain or a genius? Did he push his kids too hard? Is he responsible for Michael's uneven behavior in his later years? The fact that Joe was on the red carpet hawking a new record label the day after his Son passed away, makes me lean towards Villain.

The memorial service will quite possibly be unrivaled in the history of the country. Media coverage is complete. CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, VH1, MTV, I'm sure I missed a bunch, but you get the point. It's as if a head of state has passed. It's a massive celebration of the man and his music. The A list of performers will participate in the celebration of his life and music. Maria Carey, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce and older brother Jermaine will all perform. Someone HAS to sing “Gone Too Soon”. How incredibly difficult it will be to sing that song on this day. edit 3:10pm edt. Usher is singing Gone Too Soon, and crying.

Michael's dark side is being almost completely ignored. Multiple accusations of child molestation, one of which could not be bought off, resulting in a trial 4 years ago. Gavin Arvizo was the accuser. Seventeen years old now, I'd love to hear the absolute truth from him. Drugged, touched, and held prisoner at Neverland.....I'm not buying it. I'd like to think that Michael was a childlike person who found joy in the laughter of children. I don't believe he could harm a child. I do believe that he put himself into inappropriate situations, which opened him up a slew of legal problems. The fact that he was thought of, by some as a child molester, must have killed part of him. If I'm wrong and he was the monster that some claim or believe, then he is getting his due at this point. Life is tough for child molesters in prison, can it be any less so in rock-n-roll heaven?

“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown” even if it is self appointed.

Rest In Peace, MJ.
